Browsing Z1 Storage buckets with Cyberduck

Cyberduck is a free, open-source file transfer client for Windows and macOS with excellent S3 support — one of the easiest graphical ways to browse, upload and download the data in your Z1 Storage buckets.

Install Cyberduck

Download Cyberduck for Windows or macOS from cyberduck.io and install it. The app is free; the project accepts donations.

Connect to Z1 Storage

  1. Open Cyberduck and click Open Connection.
  2. In the protocol dropdown at the top, choose Amazon S3 — this profile works with any S3-compatible service, including Z1 Storage.
  3. Fill in the connection details:
    • Server: s3.z1storage.com
    • Port: 443
    • Access Key ID: your Z1 Storage access key
    • Secret Access Key: your Z1 Storage secret key
  4. Click Connect. Your buckets appear as top-level folders.

Tick Add to Keychain (macOS) or save the bookmark so you can reconnect with one click: Bookmark → New Bookmark stores the connection for later.

Working with your data

  • Browse and open — double-click through buckets and folders like a local disk; files open with your default applications.
  • Upload — drag files or folders from Explorer/Finder straight into the bucket, or use File → Upload.
  • Download — drag items out, or right-click → Download.
  • Synchronise — right-click a folder and choose Synchronize to mirror a local folder with a bucket in either direction — handy for simple, manual backup runs.

Tips

  • Use a dedicated key pair for interactive browsing if several people access your account — keys can be managed in your client area.
  • Large uploads are handled automatically as multipart uploads; failed transfers can be resumed from the Transfers window.
  • Prefer a mounted drive? Cyberduck's sibling app Mountain Duck (paid) mounts buckets in Explorer/Finder — or use our free Z1 Mount App, which does the same for Z1 Storage buckets.
